Just a few quick notes trying to catch up on some things around here.

Recapping the NCAA Basketball season here...in a nutshell running the ATS scans and PPG scans at the start of the Conference Tournaments seems the best way to go. I have to tell you...I love what I'm seeing there for future March Madness picks. 

The NCAAB ATS scan ended up  28-18-0 60.87%+$410.00 for a Fifty Dollar Bettor . 
The PPG Scan ended up 17-15-0 53.13% +$25.00 for a Fifty Dollar Bettor.

IF...IF you had played the ATS scan from the Conference Tournaments through the rest of March Madness. We didn't exactly do that...so I'm not trying to say we did...but that is the plan for next season and I think we can all feel free to try to exploit them better from what we learned this season.

My NCAA brackets (posted here)  didn't do very well. I suppose it wasn't the best year for any systematic way of doing it. 

It was the year of the dumb ass in the mail room winning your office pool by wild guessing. But that's all right...if it was easy it wouldn't be any fun. 

My point with the brackets is still this...I still think sticking to pure SRS will get you farther than most anything over the long term. 

SRS would have picked Villanova to win it all this year for that matter, but you might still have been blown up on the other side of the bracket with Virginia losing to a 16 seed and Loyola making it's run. 

And then there is NBA...in which the regular season is almost done. In the past I haven't had much for the NBA playoffs.

 But this season...I hope to do a little research and try to apply some scans to the NBA playoffs similar to what we did for the NCAA Tournaments. 

It might not apply exactly the same but I'm curious if there is something simple we can use for some success.  If I find something...I will be sharing it here and on Twitter.

MisterMJ MLB...Osmosis and Better Bettors ! 4/6

Today's MLB is included at the bottom of this post...a positive day again yesterday...but don't miss my important comments below.

Let's review again what I'm doing with the  MLB Early Season Select Dog Trackers.

First of all...they are being "Tracked". They may or may not be worth playing...I'm not putting them out as picks to blindly follow. It's up to you...we are tracking...watching...observing....learning. 

This is how you start to get a "Feel" for things. It starts to involve us into the baseball season. 

So far...even if you played them all, you aren't being hurt... down a little less than two units....you still have a chance to climb ahead, and it's all free as we are building toward bigger and better things ahead. 

I will be running a baseball system here with a long history of winning...Probably starting in May...and I'll be sharing it for free. 

That's what I'm going to do here.  I'm just having fun again....or it's just not worth it.

I swear...tracking something like this will make you a better bettor. (Better bettor? Really? WTF is that? LOL)...anyway... remember this:

Observing nature was the fundamental pathway to science and the scientific method.

Observing baseball ...I'm talking statistics or in this case a simple system for MLB spring dogs...in the same way (in my opinion) ...you start to absorb things without even realizing it by tracking things like this. 

It's like the process of "osmosis" ie : the process of gradual or unconscious assimilation of ideas, knowledge, etc.

Hint hint...I'm giving you something nobody else talks about. Pay attention. +15 years of building (Winning) handicapping systems talking here.

"Select" means they are only dogs that qualify by being between +128 to +180 ...because this is right in the best dog value sweet spot. Give or take just a little...it's as close as we can get...arguably so.

Follow them...play them...don't play them...watch...cheer for me to crash and burn...elect me as your President...I don't care. 

This is my style...I like to do it this way...it works for me. 

I have a million things I want to write about here...so I will try to catch up on some things that I promised as soon as possible.

First of all let me mention that I am posting on Twitter and I would also recommend that you follow me there. The blog is great in some ways...and Twitter is great in other ways for spontaneous comment and sometimes picks or ideas that I share.

I know some of you hate the idea of Twitter and don't have it and don't want it. Fine...I do have a work around for you.

Secondly...a comment about the MLB trackers. Yeah...not so hot so far. It's kind of hard to tell yet with a small sample size this season.

One day ...like maybe today who knows...they might all hit or have a 3-1 day and jump right back to plus money. That's the thing about playing dogs...you often have to play a bunch to squeeze out the value over time. Not many people are willing to do what it takes. There are no short cuts.

This system by the way (MLB Select Dogs... if you want to call it that)... checks out pretty well looking at past history with a SDQL  database. I will post that another day.. soon but this has proven to be a winning system...over time. 

That's the key...not every season provides a profit but it provides a solid profit over time if you play it out. Hint hint...you are going to be hearing a lot more about this concept from me in the future.

And Lastly...another quote from legendary handicapper Jim Barnes.
Pay attention. 

Give some advice to a newcomer learning to handicap.

Jim Barnes :  The best advice that I can give a newcomer to sports betting is, "Learn to lose before you can learn to win."

Study the losers as you always learn more from failing than succeeding, and you are never as good as you think you are on one of those 7-1 days. There will be twice as many 1-7 days.

MisterMJ on Jim Barnes MLB Handicapping and MLB Tracking 4/3

Today's MLB Select Dogs and records are included below. The first game is at 4:05PM ET ...so chill for a second.

I have a little bit of what I think is some interesting baseball handicapping reading for you. Just a little example of the types of things I intend to start talking about and diving into here.

I can't wait to start layering a performance filter over these MLB Select Dogs and see what happens. 

In other words I want to further qualify them based on recent performance. Of course the question is...what recent performance should we use? 

I am very intrigued by a comment from legendary handicapper Jim Barnes. 

This is from an article I saved years ago on about.com which I don't think exists anymore. I will be sharing a number of Jim Barnes insights...from the trenches as a proven handicapper back in the day.

Now regarding baseball....consider this comment from him and let it sink in compared to what you currently believe about baseball handicapping.

About.com: "Is there one handicapping idea that you came up with that you are most proud of"?

 Jim Barnes: : Yes, one that was an uphill battle and still is not universally accepted by a betting market that is too stubborn to adopt new theories. 

baseball is "80-percent batting and 20-percent pitching." I knew the idea had merit from the beginning and a year before leaving the Stardust to return to his native state, sportsbook manager Walker said he was coming around to my point of view. There are only a handful of pitchers that can win when their team is not scoring and the other 95-percent have their records determined by whether the team scores or not.

Agree or disagree...I think we are forced to consider that opinion. 

The man deserves respect and we need to at least consider that he might have something there.

Imagine if he is indeed correct. How does this change your approach? Are you missing something?

I don't want anyone to miss what is going to happen here. Big plans...I'm going to war...I need a tribe of like minded souls to shake up this ridiculous gambling world we all know is mostly Bull Shit. 

Yesterday's MLB  Select Spring Dogs  Results 03/31  1-2-0 (-$33.50) for a $50 bettor. 

Can't win them all...we won't win them all. This system (idea really)  is attempting to grind out value from under priced Dogs during the first month of the season. It will have ups and downs...count on it...and we may not find value this season. 

The idea is that nobody really knows anything yet...until the teams play a little bit. So we are taking all of the "optimal dog lines"...those between +128 to +180 and tracking them. 

I like to keep it real...so for record keeping purposes we assume all wagers are $50 Bucks. 

For the rich bastards betting way too much...just add a zero if that makes you feel better.  ;-)
